Clarkson University Assistant Professor of Computer Science Yaoqing Liu is being recognized as a 2018 TechConnect Defense Innovation Awardee at this year’s DefenseTechConnect Summit and Expo in Tampa, Florida.
Liu, who worked with Clarkson Undergraduate Research Assistant Anthony Dowling, received this Award because it placed in the top 15% of submitted challenge technologies as ranked by the Selection Committee. Rankings are based on the potential positive impact the submitted technology will have for the warfighter and national security. The research has been partially supported by Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Rome, NY.
The technology, titled “Enabling Seamless Information Flow Over Multiple Heterogeneous Wireless Links via Information-Centric Networking,” can flexibly and securely transfer any information flow among multiple heterogeneous wireless links, such as WiFi, LoRa, LTE, etc., with minimal overhead. The technology is based on Named Data Networking (NDN) architecture, one of the emerging Future Internet Architectures.
The technology can enable more flexible machine-to-machine or device-to-device information routing and dissemination than traditional TCP/IP based approach. It naturally supports multi-path routing and forwarding, in-network caching and built-in security at the original information level.
