Chrys of Tampa Receives Top Clarkson University Award for Young Alumni

Lauretta Chrys of Tampa, Fla., executive vice president and head of retail network transformation for the Consumer Banking Division at Citizens Bank, has received the Woodstock Award from her alma mater, Clarkson University.

Given each year during Reunion Weekend, the Woodstock Award honors young alumni who have demonstrated outstanding loyalty and service to Clarkson and the Alumni Association and who have used their Clarkson experience to make a notable contribution to their careers.

Chrys received her master of business administration degree from Union Graduate College (now Clarkson University) in 1998. She earned her bachelor’s degree in economics from SUNY Albany in 1984.

In her current position at Citizens Bank, Chrys’ leadership encompasses a comprehensive strategy to deliver new and innovative solutions in the areas of distribution and market planning, branch transformation, ATM and in-store channel strategy and management and customer engagement solutions. Chrys also serves on Citizens Financial Group’s Executive Leadership Group.

Throughout her extensive 25-year banking career, Chrys has held leadership positions in consumer banking, wealth management, small business banking, commercial and government banking treasury solutions. She was previously head of strategic onboarding, head of premier banking and director of retail banking in New York and Mid-Atlantic states.

Chrys is a trustee of Double H Ranch, co-founded by Paul Newman, where children with life-threatening illnesses get to experience the magic of camp, always free of charge. She is a member of the Clarkson board of trustees. In addition, she is a former board president of Capital Repertory Theater, board secretary of the Albany Downtown Business Improvement District, board treasurer of WMHT Public Broadcasting, and board member and first woman chair of the Retail Banking Executive Committee of the New York Bankers Association.

In 2012, Chrys was recognized by American Banker as a member of the RBS Citizens’ “Most Powerful Women-Led Teams.” She was named a “Woman of Excellence” by the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce for her achievements in private-sector management and a “40 Under Forty” by the Capital District Business Review for making a difference in her business and community as a young professional.
