General Duties and Expectations of the Clarkson Intercultural Ambassador Position

Job Description: The Clarkson Intercultural Ambassadors (CIA) program is an initiative run through the Chief Inclusion Office, spearheaded by the Office of Student Diversity & Inclusion. The program consists of Clarkson University students devoted to promoting cultural competence and awareness through inclusive ally-building events. The Intercultural Ambassadors program offers a unique approach to education that takes on the form of facilitations, presentations, and workshops intended to cultivate a greater sense of understanding and respect for the elements that make us unique as individuals and groups.

The Intercultural Ambassadors are selected through a competitive application process. Training is immersive, professionally led, and year-long. The program is supervised and managed by the Director and Coordinator of the Office of Student Diversity & Inclusion.

Academic Expectations Ambassadors are required to maintain a cumulative 2.20 GPA. If this minimum is not maintained, it will be cause for termination as academic success is the top priority for all students.

Job Requirements:

Work Hours:

1. Ambassadors can work a maximum of 5 hours a week (this includes the hour dedicated to CIA

meetings). All hours must be accounted for through PeopleSoft and the weekly work log that must be signed off by the Coordinator. 2. All work must be completed in the D & I Office, unless otherwise advised by the Coordinator. 3. All Ambassadors must complete at least 1 hour of front-desk duty. Desk duty includes welcoming

students and other guests into the lounge and, ensuring that the space is inclusive and welcoming to all.
