COVID-19: OAS Information for Faculty

OAS understands that this is a learning experience for all members of the campus community and that there are likely to be obstacles to work through along the way. In order to most effectively provide accommodations to students while maintaining social distancing guidelines, OAS is providing the distance learning procedures below to faculty and students. OAS is in progress of communicating individually with faculty to provide a list of their students who receive academic accommodations. OAS will communicate any changes and/or new information as necessary. Information regarding final exams for OAS students will become available at a later date.

Exams: The Office of AccessAbility Services will communicate with professors to inform them which students have exam accommodations. When exams are scheduled, professors are responsible for ensuring they have given all students with exam accommodations double time for the exam.

Moodle instructions for providing individual time overrides can be found here: https://confluence.clarkson.edu/display/OITKB/Quiz:+User+Overrides

OAS recommends using the Group Overrides option, described at the bottom of the Confluence page, to maximize efficiency. Professors who use an exam program other than Moodle should consult with that entity for instructions on extended time.

Professors who schedule specific start times should be prepared to reschedule an exam for specific students if the exam conflicts with another exam and/or a synchronous class. Students cannot be required to miss class in order to take an exam.

OAS testing room: The OAS testing room is closed until further notice.

Flexible attendance and deadlines: For synchronous classes, professors should communicate with their students regarding their signed Flexible Attendance Agreement to see what, if any, modifications need to be made. For asynchronous classes, students are expected to adhere to the requirements as posted by their professors.

Questions and concerns: OAS staff will be working from home for the foreseeable future. Email us at oas@clarkson.edu.
