Golden Morning Knights! Message from Provost Hannigan

MONDAY MOTIVATOR

“The connections made by good teachers are held not in their methods but in their hearts — meaning heart in its ancient sense, the place where intellect and emotion and spirit and will converge in the human self.”  – Parker Palmer, The Courage to Teach

I read an article in Inside Higher Ed yesterday that spoke of this moment and what we might learn about our roles as mentors and teachers.  Clarkson faculty are extraordinary. You’ve built a legacy of developing thinkers, doers, and change-makers. With the rapid pace of change these days, this article reminded me to be still occasionally. For those of you who’ve gotten to know me over these past few months, that is a tall order! This week, as you meet with your students, share with them what you’ve learned about what to hold on to, what to let go of, and encourage them to dream about the future.

Robyn Hannigan,
Provost
