Volunteering in the Potsdam Community

Clarkson Community Members,
We are all part of the larger Potsdam and North Country community and many of us are looking for ways to do more to help our friends, neighbors, local businesses and small nonprofits through these challenging times.

During the coming weeks, while you are working remotely, you can spend up to five hours per week of special paid-time-off to volunteer with local non-profit organizations.  This can be through appropriate social distancing activities near your home or via online, such as fundraising, organizing press releases, providing specialized expertise etc.

  • You will need to coordinate time with your supervisor and hourly employees will need to submit the hours through Kronos using the pay code column drop-down menu, select Volunteer or Emerg Services, then in the amount column enter the number of hours the employee volunteered.
  • Please see the list of organizations that will be updated regularly. Also please fill out the attached form and send it to clarksonhr@clarkson.edu

Clarkson and its Dining Services managed by Sodexo, have begun to donate food goods to the Potsdam Helping Hands food pantry.  http://www.potsdamhelpinghands.org/

We do ask that if you volunteer, you continue to practice social distancing.  Our goal is for everyone to remain safe and think about others who may need additional support during this time. If you have any questions, please call the Human Resources office at clarksonhr@clarkson.edu.
