Early Arrival & Pre-Orientation Update

Based on an expanding set of NYS travel advisories that are impacting students who plan to return to campus from around the country and who may need to quarantine upon arrival, we need to alter plans to minimize other early arrivals and suspend our pre-orientation trips planned for August. This tough decision was made so we can be inclusive of all students and to focus on ensuring that we start off the semester with a safe and healthy campus community.

Student Early Arrivals

This year, the early arrival of students is strictly limited. Students who are eligible for early arrival will be informed of their status. This helps to ensure that students follow testing protocols consistently and guidelines established in the Student Move In Plan.  Students who must arrive early will follow all testing, monitoring, and residence expectations set out in the Clarkson Commitment.

Pre-Orientation Programs

Pre-Orientation programs are being suspended. Instead of bringing students back early for these opportunities, program leaders will adapt pre-orientation experiences into planned activities taking place during the first four weeks of the semester. Physical distancing requirements (masks AND 6-feet of distance wherever possible, utilizing mostly outdoor spaces) will still be in effect.
