Move-In Dates and Fall Semester FAQs

Dear Students & Families,

The University is excited to welcome students to campus for the fall semester.  Please see the Move-In dates and process below. Please refer to the Campus Map for locations of entrances and residence halls as outlined below.

New Student Move-In Dates* (First-Year and Transfer Students):

*Except for students coming from outside the U.S. or from a state on the NYS Advisory List

  • Sunday, August 16th, 9:00am-3:00pm: Even rooms (e.g. Brooks House 116)
  • Monday, August 17th, 9:00am-3:00pm: Odd rooms (e.g. Brooks House 115)

Move-In Process for New Students

  • Students and families arrive at their designated entrance and check-in.
    • First-year students living in Cubley or Reynolds Houses enter on Clarkson Avenue.
    • First-year students living in Ross or Brooks Houses enter on Route 11 at the main campus entrance.
    • Transfer students, regardless of housing assignment, check-in at Walker Arena parking lot on Clarkson Avenue.
    • Clarkson School students will enter on Route 11 at the main campus entrance and go to Price Hall (Ormsby House & Farrisee House).
  • Students and families drive to the check in area outside of the residence hall (first-years) or Walker Arena (transfers).
  • Students retrieve their residence hall room key.
  • Students and families unload at the curb and place items on grass. 
    • Students should label all belongings prior to arrival to campus with their name and room assignment.
  • Families depart campus or can park their vehicle; families may wait inside their vehicle in the unloading zone until their student has finished moving belongings inside. Families are not permitted inside for any reason for any length of time.
  • Student moves belongings inside.
    • Roommates are encouraged to assist each other with moving belongings inside.

Returning Student Move-In Date*:

*Except for students coming from outside the U.S. or from a state on the NYS Advisory List

  • Tuesday, August 18th, 9:00am-3:00pm

Process for Returning Students

  • Arrive at the assigned residence hall check-in area.
  • Students and families pull up to the check-in area outside of the residence hall.
  • Students get their residence hall room key at the check-in area.
  • Students and families unload at the curb and place items on grass. 
    • Students should label all belongings.
  • Families depart campus or park vehicle(s); families may wait inside their vehicle in the unloading zone until their student has finished moving belongings inside.
  • Student moves belongings inside. 
    • Roommates are encouraged to assist each other with moving belongings inside.

Recently, the Student & Residence Life Restart team at Clarkson University hosted two open forums for families. Thank you to those that were able to attend. In follow up, the planning team has reviewed your questions from those sessions, as well as those from other forums, and compiled a list of FAQs to share with families and the Clarkson Community.

The University will be providing two masks to each student after arrival as well.
