COVID-19 Read: Case Update

In this communication:

  • Positive Case Update
  • Please Wear Your Mask on Campus in All Public Spaces
  • Thank you Golden Knight Community

Golden Knights,

Positive Case Update: We have had thirteen positive tests results reported to us today.  This includes people who have been completing mandatory quarantines and now testing positive to return to their routines and people who tested positive earlier in the month and are submitting both pieces of data together.  If you have any symptoms during public health mandated quarantine such as runny nose or congestion, we encourage you to get tested as soon as possible so that appropriate support can be given..

Please Keep Wearing Your Mask In Public: While we are tracking new cases to past cases, which provides a level of assurance that the precautionary self-quarantine and mandated quarantine processes are working, we want everyone to remain healthy and safe.  When you are in a public space on campus outside of your immediate family unit, please wear your mask and graciously accept this guidance when others ask you to abide by this protocol.   It’s a small, but effective way to stop the spread and shows solidarity with your fellow Golden Knights.

Thank You University Community: In looking back at the last year of University announcements, it has now been just over twelve months since we started asking people to self-monitor for fever and respiratory symptoms as well as asking people to think about their travel history when they didn’t feel well.  In those early announcements, no one anticipated that in 2021 we would still be dealing with that “novel (new) coronavirus named 2019-nCOV’ which has since been abbreviated to COVID-19.

Clarkson Golden Knights, you have truly risen to the occasion with world-relevant contributions to science and continued commitment to preparing and becoming the next generation of global leaders.

With maybe the exception of a few dogs glad to see us at home more often, we all want to return to some normalcy and routine. We anticipate Johnson & Johnson — another great company full of Clarkson alumni who have been working around the clock in the last year — will be approved for an additional one-dose vaccine tomorrow.  Hang in there Golden Knights and stick to the protocols that keep ALL healthy and safe for just a while longer and give our front-line healthcare workers some breathing room. The future is bright and we want to see everyone join us in it.

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” —John F. Kennedy

Please keep completing the daily screening tool in your routine, wearing a mask over nose and mouth, practicing social distancing and using good hand hygiene.
