COVID-19 Read: Case Update & Clarkson Commitment

In the communication:

  • Positive Case & Quarantine Update
  • Clarkson Commitment

Golden Knights,

Positive Case & Quarantine Update:  University Care Team Members are currently supporting four students on our Potsdam campus with active cases of COVID-19: two of these were reported to us today from individuals who have not been on campus since February 17.  We also have 33 students completing mandatory quarantines on and off campus. Our surveillance testing results from yesterday also had no new positive cases to report.

On our Capital Region Campus, which offers graduate programs, we have our first positive case to report.  Contact tracing has been initiated and a further update will come tomorrow.

Clarkson Commitment:  While national, state and regional progress is being made to stop the spread of coronavirus and vaccines are becoming increasingly available, the Clarkson Commitment remains an important component of the University’s COVID-19 response plan.  It is intended to motivate all of us at the University to do what we can to abide by federal/NYS executive orders and create an environment where everyone is safely able to participate in the wide range of activities available at the University inclusive of classes, club activities and sports.  We ask for all to abide by the Commitment and for your continued support to help all Golden Knights support each other.

With numerous new guidance coming from the CDC and New York State this week, we are working with local health representatives and the COVID-19 Response Team on our next phase to open more activities and plan to report this out tomorrow.

“Be safe, be smart, be kind.”
Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director General, March 8, 2020
