Golden Knights,

First, thank you Golden Knights for supporting each other and making good things happen for one another.  We are over the half-way point in the semester and have so many opportunities ahead of us  to make a difference in education, research and especially our Clarkson family relationships.

We are shifting from Orange to our next “Gold Level III” today with some modifications to the original level plan based on updated guidance and continuing executive orders from state, federal & local officials; and our experience from our opening weeks earlier in the spring.  To keep moving forward, please abide by the Clarkson Commitment and the protocols that keep everyone safe and healthy.

Gold Level III Expectations

Student Guests in the Family Unit

  • A family unit consists of students who are assigned to the same room, suite, or apartment.
  • In Gold, we are continuing up to two student guests at a time permitted in the family unit and they must reside in the same residence hall as the student/room they are visiting.  All members of the family unit must be amenable to having others in their family unit.
  • When any individual not part of the family unit is present in the family unit, all parties are required to wear a face mask.
  • On & Off Campus Fraternity & Sorority Housing / Theme Housing – Due to the number of residents / occupants; members and students who do not reside in the home are not permitted at this time. These groups may reserve public spaces on campus for activities via KnightLife.  This ensures all residents can make a choice about participating in a group activity.
  • Students who are fully taking classes as remote students are considered an off-campus guest and are not considered a student guest.  They should not be on campus.

Gatherings

  • Organized, pre-registered gatherings of up to 25 people are now permitted in public, reservable spaces on campus;  Note: NYS does not permit groups of 10 or more in any residential spaces so all spaces reserved will be through our reservation system.
    • Student clubs/organizations must complete an Event Registration Form on KnightLife with a safety plan.
      • This form can be found by logging into KnightLife and then navigating to your chosen organization’s page and selecting ‘Create Event’.
      • Events that meet current university guidelines will be approved by the Office of Student Life and space will be reserved by the Office of Student Life.
    • Clubs/organizations must collaborate with advisors to submit an Event Registration Form to ensure that all events are meeting current university guidelines.
    • Advisors are encouraged to be present at events, but may choose to check in with a delegate.
    • All clubs/organizations must use EventPass to check attendees in and out of each event.
  • The Student Center Forum can be used by reservation as well.
  • Indoor tabling is permitted in the Student Center Concourse. Clubs and organizations that would like to table must reserve the table on Knight Life in advance as well as set up plexiglass and use disinfecting wipes for the duration of the tabling event. When tabling, you must check students in to your tabling activity using the Event Check in App for contact tracing purposes.
  • Fitness Center Facilities & Recreation Club Sports
    • Fuller Pool is open. Appointments are required.
    • Fitness Centers are open at 33% capacity. Appointments are required.
    • Fieldhouse is open to 25 people with low and moderate risk activities permitted. Appointments are required..
    • With an approved safety plan, high risk club sports are permitted to begin in-person practices in accordance with Gatherings above (no more than 25), based on EHS guidelines from NYS. Contact is not permitted.
  • Carpooling for Local Travel
    • Vehicles shall be occupied at no more than 50%. Students are encouraged to have windows down to encourage better airflow.
    • Students will wear face masks (covering nose and mouth) throughout the duration of travel.

New Guidance from NYS

Quarantine Requirements for Persons Exposed to COVID-19

NYS issued on March 10, 2021 that individuals who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 do not need to quarantine during the first 3 months after full vaccination, if the following criteria are met:

  • Are fully vaccinated (i.e., ≥2 weeks following receipt of the second dose in a 2-dose series, or ≥2 weeks following receipt of one dose of a single-dose vaccine); AND
  • Are within 3 months following receipt of the last dose in the series; AND
  • Have remained asymptomatic since last COVID-19 exposure.

Please review full guidance if impacted.  University contact tracing teams will be following this guidance under the direction of St. Lawrence County Public Health.

Travel Guidelines Updated this Week with More Changes Coming

New York State Updated its Travel Guidelines on March 10  and the governor announced yesterday that beginning April 1 travelers to New York from all other states will not be required to quarantine upon arrival to New York, although the Department of Health still recommends quarantine as an added precaution. If you are travelling out of New York, please review these resources.  Travelers should still complete the state’s Traveler Health Form and take other precautions including social distancing, avoiding gatherings, and wearing masks. Travelers from other countries are still subject to CDC guidance requiring a negative test result prior to boarding a flight to the United States and are still required to quarantine upon arrival to New York for 10 days (with no test) or 7 days (with a negative test 3-5 days after arrival).
