COVID-19 Read: All Positive Cases Cleared – Golden Knights, Keep Up the Great Teamwork

Potsdam Campus Community,

As of this afternoon, we have no known active cases of COVID-19 within our Potsdam Campus and no faculty, staff or students in public health mandated quarantines.  Our Capital Region Campus active COVID-19 case anticipates being fully cleared tomorrow.

A special thank you to our Student Health Center and the University Care Team heroes, made up of members of the faculty and staff who are assigned to each positive case and individuals quarantining – especially for the work they have done in the last 40 days.  We appreciate their support and commitment to seeing all return on a path to good health.

And an even more special acknowledgement to our students who have each done the individual things in following the protocols that rebuilt the bubble for all Golden Knights to spend more time together   — ESPECIALLY MASK WEARING OVER NOSE AND MOUTH WHEN INDOORS AND AROUND ANYONE OUTSIDE OF THE FAMILY UNIT. 🙂

The Restart Team will meet on Monday to further review evolving NYS Guidance on events and group gathering sizes – we are currently in Gold Status on our Alert Levels.  A subgroup is also meeting with the Class of 2021 at noon on Monday to go over the guidance in place now and discuss options for  in person commencement ceremonies.  If you are graduating and didn’t get this communication, let us know.  Maintaining a low incidence of the virus among our campus community is a key factor in closing out the spring semester with more in person gatherings.

All University employees, inclusive of students, who have been working on campus and who have been asked to return to in person work and instruction, are eligible for vaccination.  There is still time to get an appointment this coming week and a second dose before the end of the semester.  Please visit https://am-i-eligible.covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov/  to register for your vaccination as an in person higher education employee as part of your work plan.  The Web site also outlines other categories eligible for vaccination.  There are many appointments still available this week and next.  You can also make them at the County level as residents:  in St. Lawrence County at this link https://www.stlawco.org/covid-19-daily-update-center#pods and in Schenectady County at this link: https://www.schenectadycounty.com/COVID19/vaccine. .

You can’t change your situation. The only thing that you can change is how you choose to deal with it. – Anna Kendrick in 50/50
