COVID-19 Read: New Cases & Quarantine Update / Vaccine Eligibility & Appointments

In this communication:

  • Positive Case & Quarantine Update
  • Vaccine Eligibility & Appointments

Golden Knights,

Positive Case & Quarantine Update:  University Care Team Members are currently supporting four additional students on our Potsdam campus who had positive COVID-19 test results reported to us today and two other active cases reported yesterday.  We wish them a return to good health.  As of the end of the workday, we also have 77 students placed in public health mandated quarantines on and off campus.

Vaccination Eligibility & Appointments:  New Yorkers who are 50+ were added this week to the vaccine eligibility list.  All University employees who work in person and who plan to work in person as soon as they are vaccinated  — inclusive of student workers — are eligible for the vaccine.  Please visit https://am-i-eligible.covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov/  to register for your vaccination as an in person higher education employee as part of your return to work plan.  There are many appointments still available this week and next at SUNY Potsdam at the Mass Vaccination site.  You can also make them at the St. Lawrence County level as residents, inclusive of students, including tomorrow (Thursday, March 25 from 8am to 4pm) at the St. Lawrence Center Mall (Old TJ Maxx Store),  6100 Mall Rd, Massena NY 13662. You must register in advance at https://www.stlawco.org/news/vaccine-registration-st-lawrence-centre-mall-massena-march-25

Stick with the health & safety game plan: wear a mask when indoors and around people who are outside of your family unit and practice physical distancing and good hand hygiene.

I think about the game plan, and then I go through all the little things that are almost impossible to do. If you go through those things in your mind, you can do them. John Matuszak
