COVID-19 Read: Campus & Local Community Case & Quarantine Info | Vaccination Update

Golden Knights,

We hope you have been enjoying the great weather this weekend and taking advantage of the great outdoor recreation on campus and in our local area.

COVID-19 Case & Quarantine Update:  There were no new cases reported to the University Care team today.  With students finishing mandatory isolation and quarantines, the Care Team is now supporting 15 students with active COVID-19 cases on and off-campus, and 71 students in quarantine. We wish them all good health.

There are 47 active cases being reported at SUNY Potsdam on their website.  There are 179 active cases in St. Lawrence County as last reported by Public Health.  Please keep following all of the protocols that keep everyone safe: wash your hands, wear your mask over nose & mouth and practice social distancing.

Vaccinations:

As announced this past week, J&J Single Dose Vaccine is at Walgreens and at Walmart:  You can make an appointment here:

  • Walgreens: https://www.walgreens.com/findcare/vaccination/covid-19/location-screening
  • Walmarthttps://www.walmart.com/cp/1228302?search_redirect=true&redirect_query=vaccine&redirectQuery=vaccine&typeahead=va
  • Both local pharmacies have told us they are updating their appointments on a rolling three day basis based on their inventory so it is worth going back to look daily if you have not been able to schedule an appointment. Please also look at what brand of vaccine they are offering each time as J&J is having some supply chain issues.
  • There are also plenty of vaccination appointments at the SUNY Potsdam fieldhouse as well https://am-i-eligible.covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov/ — this location does Pfizer, which requires a second dose three weeks after the first dosage. There is still time to get this scheduled before the end of the semester.
  • In New York State, college students attending college in the state are eligible to be vaccinated.  Students who are not New Yorkers can use their Clarkson address and take their Clarkson ID card to the vaccination clinics.
  • Transportation:  The College Connector Bus goes to the local Walmart.  If students do not have a car to get to a vaccination site any student with a driver’s license may access a University fleet vehicle through Campus Safety & Security.  Please make your appointment first to get a time from the vaccination site.  Then contact Campus Safety at 315-268-6666 to reserve a vehicle to drive directly to/from the appointment only.  They will provide further instructions for how to return the car.  We will be cleaning/disinfecting the vehicles in between reservations.

If you have any questions about this communication, please contact clarksonhr@clarkson.edu (employees),  studentaffairs@clarkson.edu (students) and/or me.
