COVID-19 Read: Case & Quarantine Update | Testing Info | Vaccination Info

Golden Knights,

COVID-19 Case & Quarantine Update:  The University was notified today of two students testing positive off campus this weekend.  The Care Team is now supporting 14 students with active COVID-19 cases, and 70 students in quarantine. We wish them all good health.    Please keep yourself and your fellow Golden Knights safe by continuing to adhere to the health and safety protocols:  wash your hands, wear your mask over nose & mouth and practice social distancing.

St. Lawrence County Testing Sites:  You can schedule testing through St. Lawrence Health System (Canton Potsdam Hospital in Potsdam) and Claxton Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg. Testing is by appointment only. Please call the hotline numbers below if you have symptoms or you feel you should be tested:

  • St. Lawrence Health System: 315-261-6240
  • Claxton Hepburn Medical Center: 315-713-6655

Vaccinations:

  • Unlike other parts of New York, we are fortunate that the vaccination site at SUNY Potsdam has appointments you can make this week: https://am-i-eligible.covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov/ . This location uses Pfizer, which requires a second dose three weeks after the first dosage. There is still time to get this scheduled before the end of the semester.
  • Several local pharmacies are posting appointments as they get inventory so you may need to check back frequently and confirm which vaccine they are carrying. Walgreens: https://www.walgreens.com/findcare/vaccination/covid-19/location-screening  and Walmart thttps://www.walmart.com/cp/1228302?search_redirect=true&redirect_query=vaccine&redirectQuery=vaccine&typeahead=va are posting appointments as they get inventory.
  • In New York State, college students attending college in the state are eligible to be vaccinated.  Students who are not New Yorkers can use their Clarkson address and take their Clarkson ID card to the vaccination clinics.
  • Transportation:  The College Connector Bus goes to the local Walmart.  If students do not have a car to get to a vaccination site any student with a driver’s license may access a University fleet vehicle through Campus Safety & Security.  Please make your appointment first to get a time from the vaccination site.  Then contact Campus Safety at 315-268-6666 to reserve a vehicle to drive directly to/from the appointment only.  They will provide further instructions for how to return the car.  We will be cleaning/disinfecting the vehicles in between reservations.

If you have any questions about this communication, please contact clarksonhr@clarkson.edu (employees),  studentaffairs@clarkson.edu (students) and/or me.
