Three new COVID-19 cases were reported today. As of tonight, the University Care Team is supporting eight students with active cases and ten students in quarantine, living both on and off campus. We wish everyone good health.
CDC Updates Recommendations for Vaccinated People: Today the CDC announced updated recommendations for fully vaccinated people, including that individuals who are fully vaccinated no longer need to wear a mask outdoors except in certain crowded settings and venues. Governor Cuomo confirmed that New York will follow this guidance. These updated recommendations also say that fully vaccinated people can refrain from routine COVID-19 screening testing if they are asymptomatic, can resume domestic travel and international travel without needing to be tested prior to departure or to self-quarantine upon arrival. The University will be issuing updated guidance in our response plan in support of these recommendations and anticipates additional federal and state guidance for loosening restrictions based on vaccination status. We should continue to wear masks over nose and mouth indoors when not with your Clarkson ‘family unit’ and practice social distancing, good hand hygiene, and monitoring for symptoms.
All New York State-Run Vaccination Sites to Accept Walk-Ins: Governor Cuomo announced today that beginning Thursday, April 29, all New York State-run mass vaccination location will offer walk-in appointments for anyone over 16. No appointment is required. This applies only to individuals in need of a first dose; second doses should still be obtained at the site where the first dose was obtained. Click here for a list of state-run mass vaccination sites. If you are a Clarkson student or employee, you are eligible for vaccination in New York State.
