In addition to this new role in the Reh School, Atems will work with the Associate Vice Provost of Academic Support and Student Engagement and with the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs & Global Initiatives to support research-based and academically centered international partnerships. Atems’ efforts will highlight and strengthen research in the Reh School creating new paths to grow Clarkson’s reputation and impact through leveraging of Reh School expertise University-wide.

“The Reh School faculty scholarship is extraordinary and we stand to benefit greatly as a University by having Professor Atems’ work across campus to highlight their work and build new opportunities to connect across the disciplines,” said Provost Robyn Hannigan. “I am particularly excited by the potential to intentionally develop partnerships with critical international institutions who, when combined with Clarkson, advance the development and implementations of solutions to global, wicked problems.”

Professor Atems will assume this new position on July 1st. In this role, he will add to and complete the existing Reh School leadership team consisting of incoming interim Dean of the Reh School Diego Nocetti, Associate Dean for Graduate and Professional Programs Dennis Yu, and Director of the Reh School at Clarkson’s Capital Region Campus, Zhilan Feng.

Professors Floyd Ormsbee and Amir Mousavian remain as Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs and Operations, and Director of the Engineering and Management Program, respectively.

“The Reh School has enormous potential. We are globally recognized for providing an exceptional educational experience and for conducting and disseminating high-impact research; yet, much faculty potential remains untapped or has proved difficult to retain. I believe this new role is essential for building and sustaining the educational and scholarship capabilities that are needed to realize our full potential,” said interim Dean Nocetti.

“Since joining Clarkson, I have had the privilege to work in a supportive environment with extraordinary mentors and colleagues. This appointment is an opportunity for me to pay forward by ensuring that Reh School faculty have the same kind of support and mentorship to be able to attain their highest professional potential. I look forward to working with the Reh School leadership team and colleagues, and with the Provost’s office to drive the institutional changes we all desire,” said Professor Bebonchu Atems.
