COVID-19 Read: Compliance with NYS Hero Act/ Daily screening Tool Returns

Hello University Community,

New York State Governor Kathy Hochul announced on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, that the Commissioner of Health has designated COVID-19 a “highly contagious communicable disease that presents a serious risk of harm to the public health” under New York State’s HERO Act, which was passed in NYS earlier this year.

With this designation, Clarkson University is required to implement a workplace safety plan under the Hero Act.  For your convenience, a copy of the University’s Safety Plan for the Hero Act is attached and it is also located in the Human Resources office for review. This is also currently posted at http://www.clarkson.edu/fall-2021 in the Safety Plan section

Clarkson continues to be a safe place to work and through the efforts of our faculty, staff and students we have been able to reach 98%-99% full vaccination of our campus.

Based on Clarkson’s work safety plan and the Commissioner’s designation under Hero Act legislation, all employees and students will need to complete a daily health screening form, which can be found on our internal webpage under COVID-19 Daily Screening on the quick links menu. Do not come to work or class if you are ill or sick.  We are also encouraging non-essential meetings to be held via Zoom.

For all employees who use Kronos the form is still in the system and usable if you are unable to access the form through the quick links tab. We will also be holding refresher training on all safety protocols, times and dates will be announced shortly. All are encouraged to attend.

Sincerely,

Amy McGarahen
