Siwen Wang Appointed Assistant Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Clarkson University

Siwen Wang has been appointed assistant professor of civil & environmental engineering at Clarkson University. 

She received her Ph.D. in environmental science and engineering from the California Institute of Technology and her master of science and bachelor of science degrees in environmental science and engineering from Tsinghua University.

Wang’s research focuses on both the treatment and detection of waterborne pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, parasites, and antibiotic resistance genes with the overarching goal of developing point-of-use pathogen detection devices for environmental applications. Her research interests include providing solutions to the entire process, including sampling, sample preparation, and detection.

She has co-published in Environmental Science & Technology, Scientific Report, Environmental Science & Technology Letters, Journal of Hazardous Materials,  Environmental Science: Water Research & Technology, Electrochimica Acta, and ACS ES&T Engineering

Wang is a recipient of the 2019 C. Ellen Gonter Environmental Chemistry Award by the American Chemical Society Division of Environmental Chemistry.

She previously served as a postdoctoral research associate at Clarkson.
