Mohamed Hassan a Clarkson Ignite Fellow and Chemistry Ph.D. candidate in Clarkson University Egon Matijevic Endowed Chair of Chemistry & Biomolecular Science Silvana Andreescu’s lab has won the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) ICDH 2021 Research award (3rd place) for the development of an electrically conductive material for wearable electronics.
The IEEE International Conference on Digital Health (ICDH) is a prime international forum for both researchers and industry practitioners to exchange the latest fundamental advances in the state of the art and practice of digital health technologies, emerging research topics, and the future of digital health. ICDH aims to bring together leading researchers, community leaders and visionaries from academia and industry, end-users, and healthcare professionals, in the area of digital health to share their research, practical experience, and visions of the future of sustainable health and social care transformations.
The ICDH organizing committee was hosting a student competition event for graduate students who were selected based on a project proposal submission that was evaluated by distinguished judges. Funding for the ICDH student competition has been provided through the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Technical Committee on Services Computing (TCSVC). The award was announced at the ICDH ceremony on September 10.
“This award represents recognition of our research and contributions to the growing area of wearable electronics in healthcare. We are grateful for the Clarkson investment in Ignite which allowed Mohamed to work on his Ignite project while following his passion for materials science, pushing innovations and engaging in entrepreneurial activities” says Andreescu.
Mohamed and his advisor are working with the Shipley Center on intellectual property protection and launching a start-up.
