Clarkson Mourns Prof. Artem Melman

It is with great sadness that we inform you that our colleague, Prof. Artem Melman, a member of the Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Science in the School of Arts & Sciences, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2021.   

Prof Melman was an exemplary synthetic chemist whose advice and consultation were sought after and respected across the world. He was a wonderful colleague, a devoted and passionate collaborator, and a great teacher for our students, bringing his enthusiasm and humor with him wherever he could. This is a huge loss for the department; he will be deeply missed. 

Our deepest condolences go to Prof Melman’s family, including Prof. Galina Melman, who is also a member of the Department of Chemistry & Biomolecular Science, and their four children.
