Happy PRIDE Month!!

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month (LGBT Pride Month) is celebrated each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Riots in Manhattan. The Stonewall Riots were a tipping point for the LGBT community in the United States. Today, celebrations include pride parades, picnics, parties, workshops, symposia and concerts, which attract millions of participants around the world. Memorials are also held during this month for those members of the community who have been lost to hate crimes.

This year, the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Office encourages members of the Clarkson community to join together, as members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies, at some of the Pride events happening throughout our region to commemorate the event that started the pride celebrations! Please join us as we recognize and celebrate the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals have had on history – locally, nationally, and internationally.

The events are as follows:

  • Schenectady Pride Festival: Friday, June 4th in Schenectady, NY
  • Capital Pride: Sunday, June 12th at Washington Park in Albany, NY
