CURE 2022: Campus Digester Discovery

Clarkson Faculty, Staff and Graduate Students are encouraged to join the next CURE coming Wednesday, June 22. Get excited as you read below to learn more…

Recap from CURE on June 15: Wasted food is a world problem Clarkson scientists and researchers are working to solve. Dr. Sue Powers and colleagues from Clarkson’s Institute for a Sustainable Environment (ISE) Dr. Stefan Grimberg and Dr. Jan DeWaters shared an update on how we can reduce food waste, divert it from landfills, and to turn it into energy. CURE attendees learned of efforts underway to increase awareness, build partnerships and engineer systems capable of turning food waste and other biodegradable materials into energy producing outcomes. Attendees generated great interest as they discovered where the digester operation is located on the Potsdam campus and considered the many multidisciplinary learning and research opportunities for faculty and students.

Next CURE on June 22: Be sure to tune in as guests of the Potsdam Chamber will share about current community/campus engagement activities; followed by an opportunity to complete a hands-on leadership experience hosted by Clarkson’s own Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) program. RECOMMENDED: Closed toed shoes, long pants and gloves. Always an adventure at CURE!

Join fellow faculty, staff and graduate students of the Clarkson community at this year’s Clarkson’s Unconference Refresh Event (CURE) for conversation, community, cool things, culture and more! In person and virtual options available.

CURE is a popular summertime event where connections and conversations happen each week with brief general sessions, thought generating group discussion, featured guests and time for reflection. Feedback from CURE participants is that they always learn about something or someone new at Clarkson!
