Message from President Collins & President-Elect Christensen: Vice President of Student Affairs

Brian Grant ’93 is transitioning on July 1, 2022 to the role of Vice President of Student Affairs.

Brian has served as Vice President for Enrollment & Student Advancement since July 2016.  He previously served as the Dean of Admission from 2009 to 2016. With 28 years of experience in undergraduate recruiting, Brian has had the unique opportunity to play a leadership role in building a successful admission program that increased applications 90% in the freshman, transfer and international student admission programs in six years.

Brian joined Clarkson in 1994 and has held positions of increasing responsibility, including Assistant Director of Admission and Alumni Admission Coordinator, Director of Enrollment Operations and Director of Admission.  At each step in his career Brian has demonstrated the ability to think analytically while being flexible considering admission market demands.  He graduated from Clarkson in 1993 with a degree in interdisciplinary engineering & management and received his master’s degree in instructional technology from SUNY Potsdam in 2003.

Brian’s new position will allow him to focus solely on our students.  The need to retain our students is critical for both the perspective of our students and the university.

Kelsey Pearson will be promoted to Interim Dean of Students with the departure of Jim Pittman.  Kelsey has held the positions of Associate Dean of Students, Assistant Dean of Students for Accommodations and Conduct, and Director of Student Organizations and Student Center.  Troy Lassial will provide continued support to Kelsey as the Assistant Dean of Students.

Enrollment Services will report directly into the President’s office

Please join us in congratulating Brian, Kelsey and Troy on their new roles.
