Help needed in BioSignal Processing Lab

Position: Junior Research Assistant

Job type: Part-time

Qualification: Pursuing an undergraduate degree at Clarkson University

Compensation: US$12.50/hour

Work hours: 10 – 20 hrs/week (flexible working hours)

Work Schedule: Flexible

Contract period: Starts in the Fall of 2022 and then renews every semester

Experience requirement: Beginner or intermediate or expert

Job Description: Dr. Stephanie Schuckers is looking to hire undergraduate students as junior research assistants to work on state-of-the-art biometric research projects in the BioSignal Processing lab in CAMP2211. We are looking for motivated and sincere students with good grades, who are willing to learn and help with data collection, electronic hardware designing, and/or are interested to advance their skills in computer programming languages like C, C++, Python, and MATLAB, and smartphone app development. As a part of the research team, recruits would have the opportunity to experience research and advance their technical skills and team working capabilities. 

Job descriptions:

Data collection (Beginner or intermediate level):

  • Collect and organize live biometric data from subjects
  • Prepare or collect spoof data
  • Organize and back up the collected data

Computer Programming & smartphone app development (Intermediate or expert level):

  • Write code to accelerate post-collection data preprocessing or processing 
  • Convert codes from one language to another to aid data preprocessing or processing
  • Help develop an android and/or iOS-based app to aid data collection with the smartphone camera

Electronic Hardware specialist (Intermediate or expert level):

  • Work on an existing doppler radar setup to improve range and efficiency
  • Measure channel loss and modify hardware as necessary to compensate for the loss
  • Experience in breadboard circuit designing is a plus
