Upstate University Hospital Mobile Mammography Van

St. Lawrence University is hosting the Mobile Mammography Van on November 28 & November 29, 2022. Due to lack of participation they have opened the opportunity up for Clarkson Employees. Please see details below and if interested follow the process to schedule an appointment.

Upstate University Hospital’s Mammography Van will be on the SLU campus to provide mammography screenings by the Stafford Fitness Center on Monday, November 28, 2022 between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. and on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. for women who have scheduled an appointment.  SPREAD THE WORD to your coworkers, moms, daughters, sisters, and friends!

To schedule an appointment for a mammogram with the van, women should call 315-464-2588. Appointments can also be requested online at www.upstate.edu/noexcuses.

To be eligible for a mammogram women should be 40 years and older; not have had a mammogram in the past 12 months; and not be experiencing breast issues.

You do not need to be an Upstate patient to get a mammogram. Your results will be sent to your health care provider.

The mammography van spans 45-feet and is equipped with a state-of-the-art 3D digital mammogram system, a private exam, dressing room, and a waiting room.

The mobile mammography program was started through New York State’s “Get Screened, No Excuses” Breast Cancer Initiative and continues with the support of Upstate University Hospital. The program’s aim is to get rid of obstacles to breast cancer screening for women in New York.  The average rate for screening mammography in New York is 81 percent.

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women, affecting one in eight women.  It’s also one of the most treatable cancers when detected early.  Mammograms—x-rays of the breasts—are the most effective screening procedure for the early signs of breast cancer.
