A winter storm warning is in effect for much of the Northeast from tonight through Saturday morning. Heavy snow is possible for our area, which could make travel difficult for some and can change throughout the weekend.
The University will continue to watch the weather for all campuses and will notify staff via email and/or Rave Alert for any additional information pertaining to Friday and/or a delay in opening on Friday, December 16. All supervisors are asked to understand that some staff may arrive late Friday due to the weather. Those employees providing essential services will be notified by their supervisors when to report. If you have any questions, please contact your supervisor for guidance. Supervisors may reach out to clarksonhr@clarkson.edu with questions.
In the event of a delay or interruption in the final exams due to unforeseen circumstances such as technological issues or an emergency situation, the faculty member or instructional staff should communicate as quickly and succinctly as possible to their students the plans for making up or rescheduling the exam.
University Housing does not close until Saturday, December 17 at 10:00 am and students normally leave after their exams conclude. If students whose last final exam is on Thursday, December 15 need to stay an extra night (Friday) due to poor weather conditions, that will be allowed. Should the storm pass through later than expected and/or any major routes leaving Northern New York be shut down, we can also approve additional nights of housing. Students who are planning to attend Saturday’s December Recognition Ceremony in Potsdam and have family members who can’t travel to Potsdam to attend the ceremony have the option to participate in a future ceremony. They simply need to switch their attendance with SAS. Family members are also invited to watch the live feed of the ceremony as well.
