A winter storm warning is in effect for all of Northern New York and parts of the greater Capital Region from Wednesday evening 2/22/23 through Thursday afternoon 2/23/23. Heavy snow in the forecast could result in the Thursday morning commute to work longer.
All supervisors are asked to understand that some staff may arrive late and need to flex their work hours.
For faculty, canceling an individual class is up to the professor. In the event that a professor cancels class due to weather, students are to be given reasonable notice and arrangements have to be made for loss in instructional time. Faculty with questions should contact their dean.
Those employees providing essential services will be notified by their supervisors when to report. If you have any questions, please contact your supervisor for guidance. Supervisors may reach out to clarksonhr@clarkson.edu with questions.
Colder temperatures also mean we should take care to ensure windows are closed in offices and common spaces.
Note: The Rave Alert System has made updates to its systems-regulations for clients and the University can only issue messages for emergencies and crisis situations with this service. For weather related text messages, we will only use the Rave system if we are shutting down our regular operations and/or travel bans have been issued by the County Emergency Management Office.

NY-Alert is a separate system maintained by New York State. By going to https://alert.ny.gov/, people who live in New York can subscribe to NY-Alert to receive information and recommendations in real-time by emergency personnel including severe weather warnings, significant highway closures, hazardous material spills and other emergency conditions. All areas of New York State are included in the system, and you can decide which area you would like to receive alerts about. Signing up is free, and messages can be received by phone, email, text and fax.
