Improving student and faculty experience with Clarkson University’s learning management system’s (LMS) Moodle is the subject of a poster presentation by Clarkson University’s graduate instructional designer, Loretta Driskel, at MoodleMoot, in Denver, CO later this month.
In 2017, staff teamed up to improve ways course content is presented to students. By designing and deploying an institutional template within Moodle, instructors are guided on what and how to include information for their students.
Moodle is an open source software platform for learning management that is popular among colleges and universities with 96 million users worldwide. The template installation was made possible using the Plug-in local_course_template. The implementation accomplished its goals to offer improved student experience, greater consistency, and improved organization of course materials.
Project owners were Clarkson University graduate instructional designers Erin Blauvelt and Driskel, and system administrator Steven Green. The project team listened to input from student survey responses during the planning and design of the template. Faculty benefit from the new template through savings of time, and improved work experience.
