On June 14, 2019, members of the Board of Trustees, the Core Strategic Planning Team, and the Task Force Team Chairs/Co-Chairs attended a facilitated workshop in Albany to kick-off the Playing to Win strategic planning process. The facilitator reviewed the initial feedback that was assigned as homework to the Board and the campus community in May, and guided the group in generating an initial list of strategic possibilities that could potentially address how we can raise Clarkson’s reputational profile to achieve full potential and increase the University’s relevance and impact over the next 5 years, ultimately winning over our competition. While it is important for us to determine what we want to do and be to win, is also important to determine what we do not want to do and be. With this thought came a discussion around being globally relevant and active but not necessarily global. There was consensus at the workshop to refine our competitive focus on Clarkson’s national reputation and you will see this reflected in the initial list.
As previously communicated, we would appreciate your feedback. We recognize there is some overlap between the possibilities but, at this stage, we want to share all ideas and obtain campus input. Please submit the Feedback Form by July 10, 2019. The Core Team will review the feedback and work with the Task Force Teams to incorporate the information into the next step, which will be to work on completing the cascade slide deck for each possibility.
The Strategic Planning intranet site is now available. Please bookmark it and look for frequent updates to it. We will have a communication plan posted soon so you will know when and how often the Blog is updated. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at opa@clarkson.edu.
