As we work through a challenging time – each of us focusing on doing all the right things in the face of uncertainty – your extended Clarkson family is thinking of you.
Each evening, we hope to share a story of good things, Good Knights, as a way to remind each of us that, despite the realities of our challenging days, good things are still happening. We will look for short stories highlighting members of the Clarkson community demonstrating the values we all share – integrity, teamwork, humility and a commitment to making the world a better place.
Clarkson MBA student, Miles DeCastro, usually uses his 3-D printer to fabricate custom and obsolete parts for musical instruments in his capacity as Instrument Repair Technician at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam. However, when he heard that local hospitals were in need of surgical mask straps (or “ear-savers”), he was anxious to help those brave and selfless individuals working so hard on the front lines. Using PLA filament specifically designed for 3-D printing, his machine can produce three ear-savers each hour. Miles will drop off these mask straps each week for distribution to the St. Lawrence County Public Health Department and the county Emergency Operations Center.
