Upcoming Virtual Lectures, Support Groups for Fibromyalgia/Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome

Hypermobility 105: EDS in Children. Hypermobility often presents in children, who may experience a range of complaints such as stomach problems, fatigue, and anxiety in addition to joint instability and pain. This session will discuss common problems children face, as well as some options parents have for managing those concerns. Prof. Leslie Russek, PT, DPT, PhD, OCS, is an EDS specialist and presents nationally on topics related to physical therapy management of EDS. This virtual Zoom lecture, noon-1 pm on Wednesday, June 17th is co-sponsored by St. Lawrence Health System and Clarkson University, and is free and open to anyone. Contact Dr. Russek at Lrussek@clarkson.edu for information about participating.

The Fibromyalgia/Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Support Group will meet virtually on Zoom on Tuesday, July 7th at 6:30 pm. The July topic is “Why is Breathing so Difficult?” Current research and thousands of years of cultural history agree that breathing ‘correctly’ is essential for our health. Why do so many of us breathe poorly, and how does it affect our health? How can we do it better? This session will include a presentation on breathing and several guided breathing activities. All people with fibromyalgia or EDS, friends and family are welcome to participate. Contact group leader, Prof. Leslie Russek (Lrussek@clarkson.edu) for information about how to log into the session.
