Amazon Business Account

In order to better coordinate University spending via Amazon, the Controller’s Office is now managing the University wide Amazon Business Prime account.  This requires that any existing Amazon Business accounts established with an @clarkson.edu address. will need to be migrated to the University account.   Any personal accounts utilizing an @clarkson.edu address will need to be migrated to a personal email or converted to a business account.
If you have not already, many of you will be receiving an email from either Amazon Business with a link to convert your account appropriately.  Additionally, you may have received a targeted email from the Controller’s office with additional guidance to assist with this process.
Some of the benefits of this program will be:

  • Ensuring that all business related Amazon purchases are properly processed as tax exempt.
  • Purchases requiring additional approval, such as computers, printers, etc. will first be vetted by OIT.
  • Vendors that are barred from being utilized for SRS purposes will be eliminated from any product searches.
  • Vendors that meet requirements as an MBE / WBE / DBE business will be shown as a preferred vendor and we will be able to report on these purchases to help attain utilization goals in these areas.
