TLC announces RISE Completions from Cohort II

RISE: Reframing Instruction for Success Everywhere

It is an honor to announce the following individuals completed RISE: Reframing Education for Success, Cohort II, a teaching and learning skills development workshop created by Clarkson’s TLC. RISE launched in Summer 2020 as a campus-wide training initiative aimed to support faculty in their endeavors to teach online or remote. To date, 134 participants have completed RISE, with cohort 3 completions to be announced soon.

RISE workshop activities guided participants through a 6-week facilitated online experience of asynchronous and synchronous instruction to learn best practices in basic course design and development for online instruction. To achieve completion, participants received a ‘met’ rating on all required workshop activities. RISE participants were assessed on activities that demonstrated:

  • creating a course map including developing measurable objectives and assessment types, creating a syllabus appropriate for online courses;
  • creating engaging instructional materials, building appropriate, effective learning activities and assessments that measure objectives;
  • using technology and course organization to create a high quality learning experience;
  • developed methods to deliver an online course with strong student/student and student/instructor interaction and feedback;
  • tailoring communication methods to ensure clear and detailed information for students.

The RISE credential has been issued to each participant’s personnel record in Peoplesoft HR and is viewable to the participant and their supervisors. Participants received notice of their completion along with a digital certificates in July.

TLC thanks its partners from the Provost’s Office, Library, Office of Accessibility, and Academic Integrity Committee for their contributions and support of the RISE initiative. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Clarkson community as we put skills and best practices to work delivering high quality learning experiences.
