Dear students,
You are invited to sign up to speak or read at Open Talent Night with the theme of Spoken Word this Thursday, 9/10 from 7-8pm, held virtually. Poetry, slam poetry, rap, hip hop, and all forms of spoken word are welcome! You may perform your own work or the work of another artist with credit to the original.
Sign up to perform at bit.ly/spokenword20. The first 10 students to sign up/perform will get a free copy of Jaylene Clark Owens’ book of poetry, AfroPoetic.
Spoken word is a piece of creative writing that is best delivered through performance, so it can be a story, poetry, a rap, or some combination. It focuses on the aesthetics of word play and intonation and voice inflection. Watch the following videos for tips on composing a Spoken Word performance:

On 9/10, go to bit.ly/listencu to watch, listen to, and support your peers!
This event is sponsored by CUB (Clarkson Union Board) and OSL (Office of Student Life).
