Thank You from the Office of Accessibility Services

The Office of Accessibility Services would like to take this opportunity to thank faculty and staff for all of their assistance and support with providing accommodations to the OAS community. Without you, the important work we do would not be possible. We would also like to take a moment to share some successes as well as updates.

Covid-19 brought the need for electronic service and our office fully transitioned to a new system for requesting and approving accommodations through myCU. Although there were some growing pains, the system proved to be successful, and we served 424 students. In addition, we further utilized FileDrop to allow electronic exam submissions, eliminating the need for as much personal contact as possible. Jen Smith joined the Clarkson community as the Coordinator of Testing Services, which focuses primarily on OAS testing needs and included both in-person and virtual proctoring, which was a new service we offered. Our office proctored over 650 exams in locations outside of our regular testing room.

Looking forward to Spring 2021, we plan to continue to use the myCU accommodation acknowledgment portal for both students and faculty. We encourage faculty to digitally submit their exams through FileDrop using oasexams@clarkson.edu. Students with any accommodation questions should be directed to email oas@clarkson.edu. Any new students who are interested in discussing academic accommodations, can submit an online intake inquiry through the Tutoring & Accommodations tile on myCU, where they can securely upload the required documentation.
OAS values your support and dedication to our students, and looks forward to future collaboration opportunities. Amy Dougan, Coordinator of Accessibility Services, is available to schedule information sessions with department faculty and staff to discuss what we do and how we do it. As always, we are happy to provide support with the online acknowledgement process in the myCU Faculty Center.

Please let us know if you have any thoughts, questions, or concerns. We would like to wish everyone a safe and restful holiday season!

Best,
Amy Dougan, Coordinator of Accessibility Services
Kelsey Pearson, Assistant Dean of Students for Accommodations and Conduct
Jen Smith, Coordinator of Testing Services
