2021 Summer Programs and Plans

We are asking all summer program managers, faculty and researchers to proceed with making proactive plans to return to in person campus activities for summer 2021 and to simultaneously review virtual alternatives that may still need to be in place for some or all participants.

We will plan to make a firm decision about the status of in-person summer program options by March 1, 2021 and the guidelines that will need to be in place to proceed. We will have virtual options as an alternative.

With investments in new instructional technology and collaboration tools that have been put into use this year, we are well positioned to offer quality programming on multiple platforms to the audiences we have served in the past with opportunities for growth in new marketplaces.

We acknowledge that while we have great optimism from the first wave of COVID-19 vaccines being launched now, the coronavirus pandemic is still a very real challenge around the nation and world with unknowns.

If you have questions about starting a summer program or compliance/outreach for an existing program that involves K-12 participants, please initiate discussion for athletic/recreation programs with Laurel Kane, lkane@clarkson.edu; and for academic programs and summer research experiences with Amanda Pickering, apickerin@clarkson.edu.  For people considering new K-12 programs or overnight camps, Leigha Burkhalter, lburkhal@clarkson.edu can further share more about current and anticipated Department of Health regulations and protection of children policies that will need to be followed.

Please kick off the New Year with resolutions to make 2021 the best year ever and a commitment to remain diligent towards the protocols that stop the spread of COVID-19.   Wear masks, practice social distancing and avoid small and large gatherings.
