The Search Committee for the position of Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences (Professors Sean Banerjee, David Barry, Thomas Lufkin, Sumona Mondal, Elizabeth Pienkos, Lisa Propst, Devon Shipp, Dhara Trivedi, Mario Wriedt) has worked diligently over the last several months. The work of this outstanding team, consisting of representatives of the various departments of the school, included:
- Reviewing submitted application materials of a diverse pool of candidates (over 80 candidates);
- Evaluating and rating the candidates (using a rubric based on the prospectus about the position) for the purposes of identifying a short list of semi-finalists (18 candidates);
- Conducting interviews (via zoom) of the semifinalists for the purposes of identifying a shorter list of finalists for campus-wide visits/interviews;
- Discussing the interviewed candidates for the purposes of identifying the top-ranked candidates to recommend to the Provost for campus-wide interviews.
The committee has completed its review of the semi-finalists and has identified the top four candidates as finalists for the position. In the coming days/weeks, we will schedule virtual interviews with various stakeholder groups, representing members of the university community.
