COVID-19 ACT & READ: POWERS HOUSE RESIDENTS TO ENTER PRECAUTIONARY SELF-QUARANTINE

Residents of Powers House are being asked to enter into a precautionary self-quarantine in their residences effective immediately.

This precautionary step is being taken based on results from several Powers House students testing positive for COVID-19 and the result of wastewater surveillance testing that included SARS-CoV-2 markers.

Precautionary self-quarantine means that residents will not attend classes or activities in person, should access all courses remotely from their residences, and strictly adhere to health and safety protocols.  Since this is a precautionary self-quarantine, residents may order food from the dining halls and go to collect these to-go meals. Residents may also leave their residence hall to seek medical care. Outside of these two activities, residents should remain in their room and should not interact in-person with any other individuals outside their family unit.

Based on virus incubation times, we plan to test all Powers House students on Wednesday, February 17th. Students with COVID-19 symptoms should contact the Student Health Center or their medical provider.

Students who plan to leave campus for the self-quarantine period should complete the Travel Request Form and will need to obtain COVID-19 testing on their own before returning to campus. The test must be completed on or after February 17. Students will need to upload the result of this test to myCU. Students who travel to a noncontiguous state must comply with the NYS travel advisory; students will be unable to complete the required quarantine on campus. If students leave campus to self-quarantine, they should not plan to return until after they obtain their COVID-19 test result and the precautionary self-quarantine is lifted.

Students who have received one or both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine are still required to participate in the precautionary self-quarantine. Students who have a vaccine appointment during the precautionary self-quarantine should contact their vaccine location to discuss options for obtaining the vaccine during this time.

Students who have tested positive for COVID-19 are not required to participate in the precautionary self-quarantine, unless they exhibit symptoms of COVID-19.
