Sexual Assault in Lehman Park

Clarkson University is following a report of a sexual assault adjacent to the SUNY Potsdam campus that occurred yesterday afternoon at Lehman Park along the Raquette River (opposite bank of Clarkson campus).  While details are still not clear, we have activated our RAV-Alert system to issue a timely warning and notify the campus to raise awareness in our own community.

SUNY Potsdam University Police is actively seeking any information anyone may have.

If you have any information or would like to report a crime or safety concern, contact SUNY Potsdam University Police by calling 315-267-2222.

The health and safety of our entire campus community is important to Clarkson; and our care and concern for the larger collegiate community where we live, learn and study together is an important part of our Clarkson values.

Clarkson University has several areas of protection for victims, as well as advocates who believe someone else is a victim, that enable reporting of an incident or a purported incident.

  1. The first area is SafetyNet, https://cm.maxient.com/reportingform.php?ClarksonUniv&layout_id=1, which is an online form that anyone can fill out to report or initiate notification of the right people to explore or address a concern. Concerns to report can range anywhere from a student who may be sick to routinely missing class, from an individual acting out of character to a complaint of abuse. SafetyNet is managed by the Dean of Students who deploys the University’s wider resources to address an issue.
  2. The Anonymous Crime Tip Form, http://web2.clarkson.edu/programs/knightwatch/, is a web form that goes to the head of Campus Safety and Security, who then has an obligation to investigate and involve additional university departments or law enforcement as appropriate.
  3. See additional ways here.
