Clarkson University President Tony Collins has announced that Santosh Mahapatra has been promoted from Associate Professor to Professor of Operations & Information Systems in the David D. Reh School of Business.
Mahapatra has been a faculty member at Clarkson since 2006. He applies quantitative and qualitative research methodologies to address theoretical and managerial questions relating to Strategic Sourcing; Buyer-Supplier Relationship; Supply Chain Flexibility, Supply Chain Capabilities, Practices and Performance Relationship; Socially and Environmentally Responsible Operations; Re-manufacturing and Reverse Logistics; Humanitarian Operations; and Multi-Criteria Decision Making.
He has been involved in teaching Operations and Supply Chain Management, Strategic Sourcing, Logistics Management, Quality Management and Lean Enterprise and Supply Chain Environmental Management at Clarkson.
He serves on the Executive Committee of the Institute of Sustainable Environment at Clarkson University and has been involved in strategic planning, and graduate policy-making activities at the Reh School.
Mahapatra has published more than twenty refereed journal articles, and more than ten conference proceedings and academic reports. He has delivered more than thirty-five professional talks at academic conferences, colloquiums and universities around the world.
His articles have been published in leading operations and supply chain management journals such as Journal of Operations Management, Decision Sciences, Journal of Business Logistics, International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Operations and Production Management, IEEE Transactions in Engineering Management, International Journal of Production Research, and Industrial Marketing Management.
He has co-advised doctoral dissertations and served on the doctoral dissertation committees outside Clarkson in Universities in the USA and India. Additionally, he has served as a visiting Professor at the University Bologna, Italy, Xavier University, India and Amrita University, India.
Mahapatra serves on the Editorial Review Boards of highly respected journals such as Decision Sciences, IEEE Transactions in Engineering Management, International Journal of Operations and Production Management, and International Journal of Integrated Supply Management. He has chaired the Manufacturing and Operations track and conducted panel discussions at the Production and Operations Management Society’s Annual Meetings in the USA, and has chaired sessions in several academic conferences.
He also offers advice as an expert reviewer to many leading academic journals in the area of operations and supply chain management. He is a member of the Decision Sciences Institute, and the Production and Operations Management Society.
Mahapatra received his Ph.D. degree in business administration from Michigan State University. In addition, he has an M.B.A. from Xavier Institute of Management (India), a Master of Technology in Energy Systems Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (India), and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Sambalpur University (India).
