Clarkson University President Tony Collins has announced that Christopher Towler has been promoted from clinical assistant professor to clinical associate professor of Physical Therapy in the Lewis School of Health Sciences.
Dr. Towler was a clinical instructor and clinician prior to taking a full-time teaching position in Clarkson University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. His primary teaching area is cardiopulmonary physical therapy and acute care. He also has teaching roles in geriatrics, exercise science, and the basic sciences. He maintains clinical practice at Canton Potsdam Hospital treating patients in need of Physical Therapy while admitted.
He focuses his research in geriatrics and fall prevention/identification of those at risk of falling as related to their cardiovascular fitness. He also is interested in the effects of increasing high fidelity simulation in the cardiopulmonary PT curriculum on student clinical confidence in acute care, and bone health.
Dr. Towler received his bachelor of science degree in biology in 2006 and his doctor of physical therapy in 2009, both from Clarkson. He is a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Geriatrics and a member of the Potsdam Volunteer Rescue Squad.
