Clarkson President Delivers Keynote Speech at ACEC New York 100th Anniversary Summer Celebration

Clarkson University President Dr. Anthony G. Collins delivered the keynote speech at the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of New York’s 100th Anniversary Summer Celebration last week. He spoke about the future of engineering education and the importance of access to high-quality education for all.

“The future of engineering education requires a culture of inclusion, continuous process improvement and a robust mix of curricular and co-curricular programs,” Collins said.

Collins came to Clarkson in 1982 as an assistant professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Later he served as professor, department chair, dean, vice president for Academic Affairs, and provost. He began serving as Clarkson’s 16th president in 2003.

ACEC New York is a proactive coalition representing nearly 300 member firms who engage in every discipline of engineering related to the built environment including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, environmental, and geotechnical. It is their mission to promote the business interests of member firms through networking, advocacy, education and business services. Since its founding in 1921, ACEC New York has served as a source of ideas, a sounding board and a professional resource for state and city leaders, as well as a fervent promoter of the profession. Their work involves advocating, education, providing networking opportunities and enhancing the image of the industry.
