Electrical & Computer Engineering Seminar

Coreen Bohl, LCSW

Will present a talk titled:

“Mission Impossible: Surviving Graduate School and Living to Tell the Tale”

Place: SC160

Day: Friday September 17, 2021

Time: 4pm

Abstract: Life doesn’t stop just because you are a graduate student. Many grad students struggle to meet the high standards they set for themselves and satisfy their advisors, while not completely neglecting the other people and interests in their lives. This workshop will introduce information and ideas to promote whole-person wellness, maximize a person’s ability to perform to their capabilities, and develop habits that will serve them long past graduation!

Bio: Coreen Bohl received her Master’s of Social Work from Michigan State University. She is a licensed clinical social worker, is a currently certified Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider, and has a (currently inactive) certification as an Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Social Worker (ACHP-SW). Her current role at Clarkson is Director of Counseling. She has over 30 years of diverse experience supporting people to become their best selves through direct clinical practice as well as with program management and supervision. She has worked with individuals of all ages in both rural and urban settings. She has provided services in diverse settings such as home and community, a County jail, hospitals, and a 24-hour crisis facility. Coreen enjoys the challenges of using her skills, knowledge, and experience to adapt services to different models to create client-centered support that empower individuals to identify and achieve their goals. She brings this passion to Clarkson where she seeks to not only ensure that the Counseling Center offers high-quality support to students, but strives to be active catalysts in promoting a campus environment where positive mental health and wellness are actively promoted and supported. In addition to her perspective as a mental health professional, she sees Clarkson through numerous other lenses, including as the wife of a faculty member, and the parent of a Clarkson student. When she is not working she enjoys baking, running, and volunteering as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) at Potsdam Volunteer Rescue Squad.
