The Project Management Team and Facilities & Services (FAS) wrap up and ramp up. Here’s a list of improvements around and about campus.
Riverside Apartments: All living room carpets were removed and replaced, all windows were removed and replaced, and exterior trim was repaired and painted giving the apartments a bright new look.
IRC Complex: A new high-efficiency boiler has been installed to replace the old one while new air-handling equipment has been installed in the pool to reduce humidity and improve air quality there and in the surrounding areas.
Campus Entrance by Foster House: The sidewalk leading from Clarkson Avenue onto the campus has been replaced with preparations made for setting new lighting, as soon as materials arrive, for improved safety in the area.
Holcroft House: The home of Admissions will be enjoying some much needed TLC over the next months. The Clarkson crest stained-glass window is currently out and off-campus for repair and restoration. Full window replacement and building repainting, along with improved site-lighting are all in the works.
Canoe House: The canoe house on the river behind Riverside Apartments received a facelift and a new roof. The entire exterior of the building was refinished with the replacement of rotting boards and re-staining with a new color scheme.
Science Center Expansion and Renovation: The University is at the very first stages of design for this major capital project and is beginning conversations with various focus groups across campus. The steering committee includes Ana Thomas, Alexis Maciel, Darryl Scriven, Jan Scrimgeour, Jason Schmitt, John Lawrence, Jud Mills, Kathleen Kavanagh, Laura Perry, Lauren Petley, Michael Twiss, Scott Geidel, and Silvana Andreescu. Feel free to reach out to your representative for additional information.
Cheel: The Cheel upgrade project wrapped up this summer with the installation of the climbing wall.
Campus Lab Upgrades: General improvements were made to CAMP 131, 191 and 275.
Rugby Field: A new rugby field is being built east of the Woodstock Village parking lot. Plan to go and watch the action soon!
Tree Removal: Due to this summer’s intense storms along with naturally caused disease, several dying pines were removed from along Clarkson Avenue. The University’s Tree Committee will be meeting to discuss options for tree replacement.
Campus Road Signage: Our roads have been named and signage has been installed in order to satisfy fire marshal regulations. Names and directional signage will also help our visitors navigate around campus. Additional information about the road names chosen and their meaning will be shared under a separate communication.
