“Thank You” Clarkson Community!

The University recognizes that we have all faced many new challenges since COVID-19 became part of our daily lives in March 2020.  The pandemic continues to require us to alter the way we work and connect in our personal lives. Thank you to our Potsdam, CRC and Beacon campuses for continuing to adapt to these changes, everyone’s diligence keeping our campuses safe and for being part of a successful, healthy and safe fall semester.

A great way to start the holiday season is by welcoming back the University’s holiday years of service luncheon on Friday, December 17, 2021. Please watch the campus announcements; more information to follow.

As we approach the Holiday season, we want to say “Thank You”.  The University campuses will be “closing” beginning on Monday, December 20, 2021 through and including Saturday, January 1, 2022. This “closing” will allow employees time to prepare for the holiday season, reconnect with friends, loved ones, and have time to rejuvenate .

The University’s official holidays will be December 24th, 27th, 28th, 31st and there will be no staff on campus for those days.

  • Some employees will need to continue to maintain office operations, check in on labs and be available for on campus emergencies. Managers and department chairs will deal directly with those employees on the needs of the department. Managers will work with employees who need to work during this time and offer “time off” to be used before February 28, 2021. Faculty and graduate students will be able to continue their research during this time and campus construction projects will continue. Please plan ahead if you need to purchase items or will need assistance from departments as this will minimize any inconvenience due to limited access during this time.
  • For hourly employees, these days will be logged as Holiday time in Kronos.
  • Several buildings will need to continue to operate during this time.  Buildings on the Potsdam campus will be heated minimally, with the exception of the residence halls where international students are residing and labs that need to maintain specific temperatures.

We ask that employees only come to campus if they absolutely have to and with approval from your department head.  This effort will help minimize heating and electrical costs creating savings for the University. Please remember to turn off copiers, unplug water coolers and close your blinds. We are asking that you leave your computer(s) powered on so that the Office of Informationcan complete several needed updates.

The University is announcing this “closing” early so December plans can be made. We hope that everyone remains safe and ask that you follow state guidance for any travel during this time.
