Participants needed for Web User Biometrics Research Study

Dr. Daqing Hou, Dr. Mahesh Banavar, and Dr. Stephanie Schuckers, Clarkson University, perform research in the area of behavioral biometrics and are looking for subjects willing to participate in their research efforts. You must be 18 years of age or older to participate. The objective of this research is to study the user experience with a website that implements the user login and account recovery process by integrating keystrokes and mouse dynamics. You will visit a website from own your desktop or laptop computer via a link that would be shared with you. You will be asked to go through a series of tasks, i.e., creating an account, login, account recovery and impostor attacks. You are required to attempt these tasks multiple times and as many as possible. We estimate each account recovery attempt would take approximately 2 to 3 minutes to perform and each login attempts 10 to 20 seconds.

If you choose to participate, you will be compensated $10 after creating an account and completing 100 login attempts, $10 after completing 20 account recovery attempts, $15 after completing impostor attacks (including attempts of both login and account recovery) on 5 users each for 10 times. An extra $5 will be awarded if you successfully break into a provided account as an impostor. To simulate an experience similar to the real user scenario where users trigger the forget password mechanism because they couldn’t recall their password, we require that these tasks (logins, account recovery and impostor attacks) be spread out across a period of at least 4 weeks with sufficient activities done every week (but less than 0.5 hour of effort per week).

Please note that participation is voluntary. Refusal to participate or deciding to discontinue participation at any time will involve no penalty or loss of benefits to which you are otherwise entitled.

If you are still interested in participating, please email us at wahabaa@clarkson.edu. Our scheduler will respond back.
