Refurbished computers available for on-campus, institutional use. First-come-first-serve basis.
The Office of Information Technology has recently completed the replacement of approximately 300 classroom and PC lab computers as part of a planned 5-year replacement cycle. The hardware that was replaced has reached the end of its planned operational life, but may still continue to offer suitable function for non-mission critical, minor-load operations. As in prior years, these computers are refurbished and made available for on-campus, institutional use on a first-come-first-serve basis.
The program’s aim is to aid divisions in retiring aged, potentially unstable computing hardware. Suggested uses for the refurbished computers include light-duty tasks such as email, document processing, web browsing, computerized training, etc. It is generally expected that for each refurbished computer that is requested, there is a corresponding older system that is decommissioned. It is not our intent to ‘grow the base’ of supported computers on campus through this program.
