Happy Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!!

On this day and every day, we take a moment to remember, honor, and celebrate the life, work, and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.! As the King Center states: “During the less than 13 years of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s leadership of the modern American Civil Rights Movement, from December 1955 until April 4, 1968, African Americans achieved more genuine progress toward racial equality in America than the previous 350 years had produced.” Clarkson, as it is today, would not exist without the work and leadership of Dr. King and it’s impact on our world, nation, and campus.

Dr. King once said that “the function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.” We challenge our Clarkson community continue to use our talents, purpose, and calling to rise up to the legacy of Dr. King and his vision for the Beloved Community: a community where everyone is cared for, absent of poverty, hunger, and hate! Happy Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!
