Clarkson University President Tony Collins has announced that Alisha Ohl has been granted tenure and promoted from assistant professor to associate professor of occupational therapy in the Earl R. and Barbara D. Lewis School of Health Sciences.
She received her bachelor of science degree in occupational science and her master of science in occupational therapy from Ithaca College, and her Ph.D. in occupational therapy from New York University.
In addition, she holds a license as a New York State occupational therapist and is nationally certified in occupational therapy.
Before coming to Clarkson University, she was assistant professor in the occupational therapy program at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. Prior to that, she had extensive experience in the field as senior occupational therapist, senior instructional therapist, and evaluator at the New York City Department of Education.
Ohl has made numerous presentations and invited lectures on topics such as Asperger Syndrome in adolescence and pediatric occupational therapy assessments. Her research focuses on occupational therapy practice with children and youth. She is especially interested in improving evaluation practices through estimating the psychometric properties of standardized occupational therapy assessments, and contributing to the evidence-base supporting occupational therapy services provided in school-systems.
Ohl is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association, the New York State Occupational Therapy Association, and the World Federation of Occupational Therapists. She has served as secretary for the New York State Occupational Therapy Political Action Committee (NYSOT-PAC).
